William (Bill) Frank Palmer died Jan. 2, 2011, at his Juneau home following a long fight with cancer. He was 42.
Palmer was a third-generation, lifelong resident of Juneau. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School.
He worked for his dad at Douglas Trucking, and then went to work along with his dad at Alaska Marine Lines.
His family wrote: “He was an avid sports fan, and loved nothing better than to attend his children’s sport endeavors. He loved to ski and took his children to Eaglecrest Ski Area every year. He also loved to hunt with his buddies, brother Randy, and his dad.
“Bill was a fighter. When given three years to live by his doctors, inspired by the love for his children and family, he lived 10.”
He was preceded in death by his father Frank Palmer, his sister Marcia Ford and cousin Jeannie Ford.
He is survived by his wife Mistie; their children Katie Conomos, Billy, Lisa and Linda Palmer; his mother Mikell (Roland) Lucero; step-mother Patti Palmer; brothers Rick and Randy Ford, and sister Karen (Rory) Powell of Post Falls, Idaho; step-sisters Leslie Becker of Portland, Ore. and Kate Becker of New Orleans; uncle Bosco Palmer; aunts Marlene (Joe) Ciraulo, Jill Bryson, and Gerry Macomber; nieces Kenna (Matt) Martin of Post Falls, Heidy (David) Poole of Everett, Wash., Casey Ford of Las Vegas and nephew Dennis Ford of Las Vegas.
Services are pending for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Wells Fargo Bank in Juneau for the Palmer children.
