The status of Alaska and nearby ski areas includes:
Eaglecrest Ski Area, Juneau: The ski area closed Saturday due to deteriorating snow conditions. Heavy rain Friday night and Saturday morning melted much of the base and forced Eaglecrest management to shut down the lifts.
Eaglecrest will reopen when snow conditions allow. Call 586-5330 for updates on snow conditions and hours of operation.

Nordic ski trails, Juneau: Tracks have been set at the Mendenhall Campground, the Dredge Lake area and Eagle Beach State Park. Conditions vary depending on weather and forest cover. Reports by the Juneau Nordic Ski Club are at home.gci.net/~jnordski/.
Snowmachine trails, Juneau: The Lake Creek and Treadwell Access/Dan Moller Trail are open to snowmachiners but could close if snow cover melts further. Watch for signs and gate closings.
