I just heard on the radio that 1,500 people were present for the opening at the ski lodge. That is wonderful.
I wonder how many we should have tomorrow if Juneau residents care about approximately $600,000 of wasted tax dollars in the next three years, 22,000 fewer hours of policemen and policewomen on our streets to prevent crime and keep us safe in the next three years, and thousands of hours of collective time lost between officers and their families in the next three years.
If we don't get at least 5,000 more people to show up for an opening of a ski lodge, I will be disappointed in my fellow citizens.
If you care, as I do, about our community's safety and our officers' well-being, please be at Marine Park on Wednesday (Jan. 5) at noon for a peaceful demonstration of support for these officers, who are trying to prevent the mismanagement of our tax dollars.
If not you, who? If not now, when?
