Charlie George Sharclane
Juneau, Sitka and Hoonah resident Charlie George Sharclane died Dec. 30, 1999, in Anchorage at Alaska Native Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 5, 1959, to Daniel and Sarah Sharclane of Hoonah.
He was known as Chilla Chella. Some of his hobbies were Native carving, cooking and preparing Native foods. His favorite greeting was ``Waa'sa ituwatee,'' a traditional Tlingit, ``Hello, how are you doing.''
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents George and Jessie Dalton and his sisters Delores Neitzel and Norma Rockwood.
He is survived by his son Nathan Williams of Sitka, his sisters Diane Carrier and Sarah Lampe of Hoonah and Myrtle Brogdon of Seattle, brothers Daniel R. Sharclane Jr., John Sharclane and Dean Sharclane, all of Hoonah, stepfather Leroy McKinley of Juneau and a large extended family.
Services were held Jan. 3, 2000, in Hoonah. Pallbearers were Robert E. Sharclane, Jason Sharclane, Jordon Sharclane, Victor Johnson, Frank Lindoff, William Brown and Harvey Lindoff. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Marvin, Sr., Harvey Marvin, Glen Johnson, George Obert, Sam Hanlon, Sr. and Ed Mercer.
