Paradise for skaters

Posted: Tuesday, January 06, 2004

Ian Leary, above, winds up for a shot while warming up for a noon hockey game at Twin Lakes. Local residents John Ingalls and Marc Scholten have been maintaining smooth ice for skating at the popular park. Ingalls supplies the water pump and Scholten pumps the water over the hockey playing area, where it freezes into a smooth surface.

John Caouette, left, helps his 2-year-old daughter

Rosie skate Monday at Twin Lakes. Rosie has been

learning to skate on the lakes and at Treadwell Arena in Douglas. Skating weather should be good for the next few days. The weather forecast is for single-digit lows through Thursday.
