Arriving at 7:57 p.m., Ethan Fairchild weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 20.5 inches in length.

According to parents Andrew and Joanna Fairchild, Ethan was only a day late. The delivery went "fairly quick," they said.

"We went into the hospital at 4 p.m. and he came out at 8," Andrew Fairchild said. "As far as births go, I think it was an easy birth. Although, the wife might say something different."

Joanna Fairchild said she was excited to hear Ethan was the first baby this year.

"I didn't even think it was going to happen," she said. "I thought for sure someone else had the number one spot. We're very happy. It's a blessing."

The last of three natural births, Ethan was delivered with no complications.

His two sisters, MaryJane, 6, and Jody, 3, are thrilled to have a new baby brother, their parents said.

"They don't want to leave him alone for a second," their father said.

The Fairchilds own Vito & Nick's Pizza in the Mendehall Valley.

"You know, we've raised three babies on pizza, and they all turned out good," he said. The Fairchilds will reopen Vito & Nick's today.
