Apologies for confusion

Posted: Tuesday, January 07, 2003

The Douglas Indian Association Tribal Government postponed the election originally schedule for Jan. 6. The council was working toward the election as quickly as humanly possible. We appointed the election superintendent to oversee the process. She felt it was important to update the list of eligible voters and to generate numbered ballots to control the balloting process. She was performing those functions from the time she was appointed. At the very last minute, she resigned for personal and professional reasons. This temporary delay will not affect the services we provide to our members and clients in Douglas.

The election superintendent's resignation requires that the Tribal Council seek another person willing to serve in this important position. Appointing the new election superintendent will be done as soon as possible.

We take this opportunity to apologize to the members for any confusion caused by any misinformation in the news media. While the election is postponed, the members and clients of the Douglas Indian Association may continue to see services at the office located at 918 Third Street in Douglas. You also may call 364-2916.
