Heinz-Peter "Pete" Sahlender, 69, died on Nov. 15, 2002, in Lancaster, Calif.
Sahlender was a native of Frankfurt, Germany. In 1957, he was transferred from Volkswagen in Germany to P.T. Automotive in Juneau. He was later employed by Pan American Airlines, and when the company left Juneau in 1965 he was transfered to Los Angeles, Calif. He returned to Juneau in 1982, then moved back to California, where he was employed by Rockwell International and NASA. He spent 40 years working in the aerospace industry before his retirement.
He is survived by his son, Steve Sahlender of Great Falls, Mont., his daughter, Crystal Woodard of Tacoma, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
