The letter in today's Empire (Jan. 6) by Donn and Cathy Liston about Bill Glude's avalanche awareness service was astounding. Bill provides an invaluable service to the community at minimal cost, a service that saves lives and protects property. And yet the Listons vilify Bill for no reason other than that his reminders of avalanche danger may affect the value of their property in a slide hazard zone. There is room for debate on the proper community response to avalanche dangers, but the Listons' unjustified attack is out of bounds. We should be thanking Bill for his generosity and expertise.
