Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• Police arrested a man, 20, on an assault charge at 3:33 a.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Northwood Drive in the Lemon Creek area. They lodged him at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• A collectible coin was reported stolen or lost at 12:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of Mendenhall Loop Road.

• At 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, a hiking backpack was reported stolen on Dec. 31 from a residence in the 300 block of Sixth Street. The value of the backpack and its contents was listed as $755. The report also listed $35 in change stolen from the residence.

• A shotgun, compact discs and a portable CD player were reported stolen from the trunk of a 1989 Toyota Camry at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday in the 4400 block of Sesame Street.

• A man, 30, was placed under citizen's arrest on a shoplifting charge in a case reported to police at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday. Police lodged the man at the state prison.

Vehicle accidents:

• Police cited a man, 18, on a speed violation at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday on inbound Egan Drive at Sunny Point after a 1998 Ford truck entered the ditch. The man was driving the vehicle that struck reportedly struck the guardrail before leaving the roadway. Damage was estimated at $3,000.

• Police cited a girl, 17, on a charge of failing to maintain a safe distance in traffic after an accident at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday on Mendenhall Loop and River roads.

• At 8 p.m. Wednesday, a pedestrian in the 300 block of Whittier Street reported seeing a vehicle strike a building. Damage was estimated at $300.

Alcohol violation:

• Police cited a girl, 16, at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Glacier Avenue on charges of alcohol and tobacco possession.
