Koyukuk man charged with assault

FAIRBANKS - A man from the Interior village of Koyukuk has been arrested on a sexual assault charge.

Troopers arrested Frank Dayton Jr., 40, on Sunday and charged him with first- and second-degree sexual assault for allegedly assaulting his 19-year-old niece.

According to the criminal complaint, Dayton attacked the woman when she was sleeping.

Moderate quake reported in Aleutians

PALMER - A moderate earthquake was reported in the Aleutians early today.

The Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer said the magnitude 5.1 quake occurred at about 8:15 a.m. It was centered about 225 miles east of Adak.

There were no reports of any damage or injuries.
