Fish and Game offers hunter education

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will offer a hunter education course Jan. 27-28 at the Juneau Hunter Education Facility, 5670 Montana Creek Road.

Hunter education is required for anyone under 16 hunting without adult supervision on the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge or various game management units statewide. The cost is $10.

Times for the course are Friday from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants must purchase a study packet from the department's Douglas office and complete it before the class.

City seeks comments on recreation plan

The Juneau Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee will accept comments about the sub-areas portion of the city's Parks & Recreation Comprehensive plan through Friday.

Information about the sub-areas in the plan is available online at www.juneau.org/parksrec, or by calling (907) 586-5226. The plan also is available at the Municipal Building.

Alaska Board of Game extends board meeting

The Alaska Board of Game will extend its upcoming winter meeting in Anchorage by one day to span Jan. 27-30.

The board is considering more than 50 proposals affecting hunting and the use of game. Written comments are due to the board by Friday at 5 p.m. if they are to be included in board members' meeting packets, though the board will continue to accept written comments on specific proposals until it considers them.
