The Alaska Marine Highway System will hold a public teleconference Thursday to hear comments on the proposed Southeast ferry schedules for summer and the system's operating plan for the year.
Department of Transportation spokesman Roger Wetherell said multiple representatives would be available to take testimony and in some cases explain the plans and schedules, and an unlimited number of callers can participate.
Cathie Roemmich of Juneau, who chairs the Marine Transportation Advisory Board for the governor's offices, praised the state for taking input on the schedule.
"I think they are really trying to listen to the people," she said.
Already, she said, changes have been made to the preliminary schedule after hearing concerns from Sitka residents.
At 9 a.m. Friday a similar teleconference will be held regarding Southwest and Southcentral schedules.
