Recently when shopping at Wal-Mart, the bank bag that I was carrying was inadvertently left in the grocery cart. Immediately upon realizing that it was missing, my friend and I retraced our steps to no avail. I was sad and disheartened that I had done such a stupid thing and that I wasn't able to retrieve the bag. I talked to the Wal-Mart management and made the report, thinking that it was a futile gesture.
Imagine my surprise and joy when, just a couple of hours later, I received a call. The bag had been turned in by a customer who had found it in the cart we had just returned. I picked up my bag, and sure enough, every last penny was accounted for.
I would like to thank the Wal-Mart management for their assistance in finding the bag, the Wal-Mart cashier who it was turned in to, and the Wal-Mart shopper who found our bank bag and did not think of it as extra spending money for Christmas. I was reminded that "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus." It is so nice to know that I live in a community where little miracles like this happen on a regular basis. I hope to pay it forward, but in the meantime I want to wish everyone, most especially our anonymous stranger, a very happy new year.
