JUNEAU — Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell’s office says the Alaska State Officers Compensation Commission has approved an increase in his pay from $125,000 a year to $145,000.
The group originally proposed an increase to $175,000.
According to KTUU-TV, the governor says he’s pleased the commission realized the initial proposal was excessive, but he feels this number is reasonable.
Unless the Legislature objects, the raise goes into effect in 2012.
Just three people showed up last month to testify at a hearing on the earlier proposal.
Right now, Alaska ranks 27th in pay for the governor, according to the Council of State Governments, just below Florida, Iowa and Louisiana, and just ahead of Mississippi and Minnesota.
