Miranda Eugenie McCarty and Lennon Plotnick Weller were married in a private civil ceremony on Jan. 1, 2010, on the dam for the old reservoir at Bear Creek, on Douglas Island.
Lifelong Alaskans, Miranda and Lennon first officially met on July 3, 2007, attending a Fourth of July celebration in Juneau and have been inseparable ever since. While they both graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School and had mutual friends, they did not meet during those years.
The bride is the daughter of Heather McCarty, of Juneau, and Max McCarty, of Tucson, Ariz. Her grandparents are the late Eugenie and Arthur Davies of Great Britain, and Dula McCarty and the late Paul McCarty of Mesa, Ariz. She attended the University of Alaska Southeast and is employed as a patient account representative at SEARCH in Juneau.
The groom is the son of Rocky Plotnick and Mike Singsaas, of Anchorage, and Royce and Nancy Weller, of Juneau, and Reno, Nev. His grandparents are Sandy and the late Daniel Plotnick, of Juneau, and Pat and Paul Weller, of Reno. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration, followed by a Master of Arts in economics at the University of Nevada Reno. He is employed as an economist for the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development in Juneau.
The couple plan to settle down in their new home by Bear Creek in downtown Douglas.
