City museum seeks community submitted Eagle, Raven stories

Posted: Sunday, January 10, 2010

JUNEAU - Each and everyone of us has a story about a raven or an eagle, whether it be a raven making sounds to trick you or experiencing a feeling of awe watching an eagle soar high above you. The Juneau-Douglas City Museum invites you to share your personal experiences about Eagle and Raven.

In preparation for our upcoming summer exhibit tentatively titled All Things Eagle and Raven, the city museum is collecting stories that celebrate these two birds and their every day connection to our lives in Juneau.

"Those of us who live in Juneau all have personal experiences and stories about eagles and ravens," said Museum Director Jane Lindsey. "Our goal is to collect and share these stories in an exhibit that explores our working knowledge and on-going fascination for these birds."

Your story maybe powerful and relate to clan affiliation. Your story may be about a raven stealing your bagel on the way to work or watching an eagle eat fish scraps on the beach.

If you have an eagle or raven story you would like to share, please visit: www.juneau.org/parkrec/museum and click on "Tell us your Raven and Eagle Stories."

Deadline to submit stories is Jan. 31. Selected stories will be used in the upcoming exhibit. For more information call 586-3572.
