Longtime Juneau resident Jimmy T. Rodriguez died Jan. 7, 2010, in Juneau, from Lou Gehrig's disease with his wife and daughters at his side. He was 69.
Born Dec. 28, 1940, in Cavite City, Philippines, he was a Juneau resident for 27 years and was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee.
He enjoyed spending time with the family, traveling and exercising. Music was a big part of his life, having grown up playing the guitar and ukelele.
He is survived by his wife, Ester Rodriguez; daughters, Jennifer Hamilton, Monette Tyree, Ireen Rodriguez and Sophia Rodriguez; grandchildren, Jessica Hamilton and Kayla Tyree; brother, Rudolfo Rodriguez; sister, Natividad Rodriguez-Mascardo and several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Alaskan Memorial Park & Mortuary. The Mass service will be held at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A reception will follow the service. People who knew him are welcome to attend the viewing, Mass service and reception.
