The Department of Environmental Conservation has announced the availability of more than $400,000 for clean water projects through the Alaska Clean Water Actions grants. DEC partners with ACWA and the Department of Fish and Game every year to solicit proposals for such clean water projects and award grants to local communities and citizens groups.
“ACWA grants have very positive impacts on water quality and aquatic habitat throughout Alaska,” DEC’s director of water, Lynn Kent, in a press release. “We encourage local governments, Native groups, and watershed councils to apply for grants that address priority water body needs.”
The release states a priority for this year’s grants is the use of green infrastructure or natural structures in urban areas to reduce storm water pollution.
The solicitation opened Tuesday. Application must be submitted online at http://bit.ly/gtazxF by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
