ANCHORAGE - A student suspended from Bartlett High School was taken into custody Monday after he allegedly fired a gun at another student, police said.

The gunfire resulted from a long-standing feud, police said.

The suspended student, accompanied by a friend, got into an altercation in the school parking lot with the other student. He pulled out a .38-caliber gun and fired two shots, missing the student but hitting a window of the school, police said.

No one was injured.

A plainclothes police officer who was listening to his police radio apprehended the suspended student and his friend. They were taken to the police station and were questioned Monday evening, said police spokesman Ron McGee.

The 16-year-old who allegedly fired the gun was charged with misconduct, assault and reckless endangerment. He was being held at the McLoughlin Youth Center and was expected to go before a judge today, police said. The other youth, 17, was not charged.
