Former Juneau resident Donald E. Burlingame died Dec. 12, 2007, in Lacey, Wash., of pulmonary fibrosis.

Born 1919 in Onalaska, Wash., he married Grace Wallin in 1939.
He served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy and later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. He worked for the FAA in Juneau from 1962-68 and later served in FAA offices in Anchorage, Beirut, Frankfurt, Rome and Seattle.
He had two sons, Bruce and Lynn Burlingame. Bruce was killed in an aircraft accident near Baranof Island in 1969. Grace died in 1999, and he married Gladys Wallin in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Wallin, of Lacey; son, Lynn Burlingame, of Bellevue, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Glenda Burlingame; granddaughters, Stacey McShane and Victoria Burlingame; Gladys' children, Joy Thielen, Jill Andersen, Bob Wallin and their families.
