Jessica Gilbert, front, glides toward the Hooter chair lift as Orca Ski and Snowboard Program staff member Lindsey Hallvik follows Saturday afternoon at Eaglecrest Ski Area. The program, sponsored through Southeast Alaska Independent Living, teaches people various disabilities to enjoy skiing at Eaglecrest. "We are trying to get the word out and give more people the opportunity to learn," Hallvik said. "They really have a great time. A lot of our skiers go on Hooter and Ptarmigan. They ski for years with us and love it." Gilbert said, "I like skiing. I like that I can practice for the Special Olympics."
