Thank you to the Southeast Building Association, Northland Services, REACH, members of the Yacht Club, community and Catholic Community Services donors and volunteers for once more allowing CCS to assist almost 100 of our client families with food baskets just prior to Christmas. The collaboration of so many groups and individuals makes this all possible, and it is our pleasure to be a part of this project. Thank you Juneau.

... for contributing to the fight against drunk driving

On behalf of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and the citizens of Juneau, I would like to thank the young men from Johnson Youth Center along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving for their impressive actions against drunk driving in Juneau.

This holiday season MADD was generous enough to sponsor a media campaign to promote safe driving during the holidays. Through this contribution, the young men from Johnson Youth Center were able to create positive media messages that were posted around town promoting seatbelt use and reminding people of the negative impacts of drunk driving.

Without the insight of these youth and the support of MADD the holiday season may have been much more dangerous for the people of Juneau. Education is the key to decreasing dangerous behaviors and the impact of these posters was great. Since 1999 drunk driving arrests on New Year's Eve in Juneau decreased by 33 percent.

NCADD offers its sincerest thanks to MADD and the young men at Johnson Youth Center for their participation in this very important media campaign and for the positive impact it had on our community. We look forward to collaborating again in the near future.
