Tompkins 14th at Disabled World Cup

Juneau's Joe Tompkins finished 14th out of 23 mono-skiers who completed the course in Tuesday's giant slalom at the Disabled World Cup alpine ski series in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Tompkins, a member of the U.S. Disabled Alpine Ski Team, finished with a two-run combined time of 2 minutes, 28.90 seconds. He completed his first run in 1:12.84, and his second in 1:16.06. He crashed during his first run in Monday's giant slalom event.

Martin Braxenthaler of Germany was the top male mono-skier on Tuesday, with a two-run time of 2:10.31. The ski series continues with slalom races today and Thursday.
