Miles Bedford, a 13-year-old seventh-grade student at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, explains his science-fair project Wednesday in the school's commons. Bedford's project is called "The Physics of Hitting." He used an apparatus to swing a corked baseball bat, a regular bat and an aluminum bat. His results showed that the lighter corked bat and aluminum bat hit the ball farther because the lighter bat allowed a faster swing. The project was part of the Cedar House science fair at the school.
