When I was reading the Empire article about raising the age for legally dropping out of high school, I thought back to when I was in high school. I went to and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1999, when they had a program called "BASE" and a system with "trackers." These trackers would follow the kids to class, and make sure they stayed there the entire period, waiting for the student outside of class when it was over. If they weren't there, there was some kind of consequence for the student.
