Burglars hit Anchorage homes while owners vacation

ANCHORAGE — A woman who was wearing stolen clothes and riding in a stolen SUV is one of the latest people accused of breaking into homes in Anchorage while the owners are away on vacation.

The Anchorage Daily News reports the 20-year-old woman was arrested Sunday along with the 22-year-old driver of the car. Police believe they also took guns, a TV and snowboards from a duplex while the owners were out of state.

Similar burglaries have been reported since November. Police advise residents not to broadcast vacation plans and to set timers or ask friends and neighbors to make it appear that someone is still home.
