Friday, Jan. 14

Juneau-Douglas boys basketball hosts Wasilla: At Juneau-Douglas High School. Junior varsity teams play at 4:30 p.m.; varsity teams at 8 p.m.

Juneau-Douglas girls basketball hosts Sitka: At Juneau-Douglas High School. C-team game at 1 p.m.; junior varsity at 2:45 p.m.; varsity at 6:15 p.m.

Night skiing at Eaglecrest Ski Area: Skiers and snowboarders can ski under the lights from 4-9 p.m. on the the Hooter chairlift and the Pletter beginners' lift. Lift tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for children. The ski and snowboard school will offer special adult telemark and snowboard clinics on Friday nights, through mid-March depending on the snow. Juneau Parks and Recreation's Saturday hike: Meet at 10 a.m. at Glacier Visitors Center trail parking lot. Hike is a tour around the visitors center and the length of this easy ski/hike will be determined by the group. Wear cross-country skis or hiking boots, warm layers of clothing and bring plenty of food and water. No dogs or firearms please. Info: Juneau Parks and Recreation, 586-5226.

Winterfest Series Slalom Races: Two slalom races begin at 10 a.m. at Eaglecrest. Levels JI through JIII and Masters. Non-Juneau Ski Club members must call and register before race. Info: Bev Metzger, 789-1605.

Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club NRA Sporting Rifle Match: At the Hank Harmon Rifle Range. Sign up at 9 a.m., match begins at 10 a.m. Info: 789-1717.

Monday, Jan. 17

Third Annual indoor soccer mini camp: The Juneau-Douglas High School soccer program presents it third annual indoor soccer mini camp on Martin Luther King Jr. Monday, The clinic is for boys and girls ages 5-11 at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. The cost is $20, which helps fund the 1999-2000 JDHS soccer program, Registration begins 15 minutes before each session. Sessions are 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-7 and 1-4 p.m. for ages 8-11. There will be an advanced session offered during the afternoon camp. Players should bring a snack, water bottle and come dressed to play indoor soccer. Please do not bring your soccer balls. CO-ED VOLLEYBALL SIGN-UP: Juneau Parks and Recreation adult co-ed volleyball team managers packets available at Parks and Recreation office, second floor of the Municipal Building, room 218. Team registration is Thursday, Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. in the assembly chambers, located on main floor of Municipal Building 155 South Seward Street.
