Sen. Murkowski won for right reasons

Posted: Thursday, January 13, 2005

"Bait-and-switch" Bob King (letters to the editor, Jan. 11) needs to give it a break and accept that the voters have spoken.

Lisa Murkowski was elected because she proved to the voters and those of us that have worked with her that she is a conscientious, hard-working senator. And frankly, there isn't enough space in this newspaper to catalog all of the real reasons Tony Knowles didn't win the election.

So, instead of grumbling about Sen. Stevens' support for Lisa, maybe those still in mourning over Tony's defeat should be asking him why he didn't pay more attention to Sen. Stevens and the federal delegation while he was governor. Had he done so, that alone would have had a greater impact on the outcome of the Senate race than any of Mr. King's post-election electioneering.
