I am writing to express my concern with the way people have been driving at the newest traffic light in the Valley - where Mendenhall Loop Road intersects Mendenhall Boulevard and Valley Boulevard. Unfortunately, it seems that there is a great deal of confusion as to who has the right-of-way when turning on a green light.
I reside on the Mendenhall Boulevard side of the traffic light and virtually every time I attempt to turn right onto Mendenhall Loop Road on a green light, I am cut off or nearly hit by someone attempting to turn left from Valley Boulevard. My understanding is that when you are going straight or turning right on a green light, you have the right-of-way and should proceed, and when you are turning left on a green light - particularly when there is a sign that specifies "Left Turn Yield on Green," next to the light - you yield. I urge all drivers who use this traffic light to pay attention to their driving and to yield (or not) accordingly.
