Coast Guard Station Juneau dispatched a Motor Life Boat and helicopter to respond to a Sitka fishing vessel that reported taking on water, according to a Wednesday e-mail from the Coast Guard.
A failed overboard discharge clamp caused the flooding to the fishing vessel Pillar Bay, Coast Guard spokesman Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Lally stated in the e-mail. The Pillar Bay’s crew eventually stopped the flooding. The fishing vessel eventually arrived in Juneau under its own power.
