ANCHORAGE — Anchorage voters will decide in April whether to let city workers other than police issue parking tickets.
The Anchorage Daily News reports the assembly voted 10-1 Tuesday to put the proposed charter amendment on the April ballot.
One sponsor, Assembly member Patrick Flynn, says it should free police officers for more important work and prevent drivers from hogging meters.
Voters abolished the old Anchorage Parking Authority in 1997 in reaction to strict enforcement.
