JUNEAU — Five people have applied to fill a vacancy to be created by the upcoming retirement of Juneau Superior Court Judge Patricia Collins.
The Alaska Judicial Council’s director Larry Cohn says he expects the council to meet in early April to interview the applicants. A public hearing also will be held.
The council makes at least two recommendations to the governor, who then has 45 days to make an appointment from the recommendations.
Those vying for the job are Juneau District Court Judge Keith B. Levy; Valdez District Court Judge Daniel Schally; Leslie Longenbaugh, who serves as a part-time federal magistrate judge in Juneau; John W. Erickson, Jr., an assistant state attorney general in Anchorage; and Juneau attorney Louis Menendez.
