Police and fire blotter

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Assaults:

A man, 20, reported shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday that he had been assaulted by a man, 18, in the Lemon Creek area. The victim later told the responding officer he did not wish to pursue charges against his assailant, who was known to him. Investigation continues.

Thefts:

A man, 42, reported about 10:30 a.m. Thursday that binoculars, sun glasses, a camera and a black backpack were stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked at Main and Second streets. Estimated value of all missing items was $540.

Vehicle accidents:

Two vehicles were reported involved in an accident about 1:45 p.m. Thursday on Egan Drive inbound at the McNugget intersection. The drivers were 19 (no gender given) and 52. The 52-year-old man was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment. The emergency department treated a small bruise on his forehead and soft tissue injuries on his neck and chest. He was released in good condition. The 19-year-old was cited for careless driving. One vehicle received $500 damage; the other, $1,500 damage.

Fire:

About 8 a.m. today, Capital City Fire & Rescue had a report of a car fire in a parking lot at Mile 7 Glacier Highway. The vehicle, an older model Jeep, was in flames when firefighters arrived. The owner had apparently parked it and gone to work. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which apparently began in the engine compartment. Cause of the fire is unknown. The vehicle was totaled.

Other:

Police conducted a traffic stop about 1 a.m. today in a hotel parking lot on Egan Drive downtown. They cited a woman, 25, for driving while her license was suspended. Her vehicle was impounded. Five passengers left the scene in a cab.

A woman, 31, reported shortly before 3 a.m. today from Northland Street that she heard suspicious noises coming from the next-door duplex, which was not rented. The responding officer found an intoxicated man, 37, with a woman, 40. Upon investigation, the man was found to have violated conditions of his probation by going where alcohol is sold or served and by consuming alcohol.
