. John Franklin Alexander Strong, also known as J.F.A. Strong, takes the oath of office as the second territorial governor of Alaska on May 21, 1913. Strong started out his career as a newspaper editor. In 1900, he established the Nome Nugget. In 1912, he founded the Alaska Daily Empire - later to become the Southeast Alaska Empire and then the Juneau Empire. He also published papers in Skagway, Dawson City, Katalla and Iditarod. 2001.26.039 /Juneau-Douglas City Museum
