Catherine Berg, regional spill response coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, holds a dead auklet Thursday on a beach damaged by oil from the freighter Selendang Ayu near Unalaska. The 738-foot Malaysian cargo ship split in half off Unalaska Island spilling thousands of gallons of heavy bunker fuel and diesel.
