Dan Lesh, left, skate skis with Laura and Brien Daugherty on Sunday at the Mendenhall Lake Campground. Saturday's rain left the trails hard packed with a few icy spots. The National Weather Service issued a heavy snow warning through midnight. As much as a foot of new snow was expected. Today's forecast calls for scattered snow showers and highs around 28.
