Les Schwab browns Green team 4-0

Spotless defensive effort led by Parks' 13 saves in goal

The first of Marsha Squires' two goals put Les Schwab ahead of Green just a minute into Sunday's Juneau Adult Hockey Association Women's Tier game, and goalie Jess Parks did the rest with a perfect effort against just 13 shot attempts in the 4-0 shutout victory at Treadwell Arena.

Les Schwab more than doubled Green's attacks on goal with 31 shot attempts of their own. Green goalie Darryl Tseu picked up 27 saves of his own in the doomed effort.

Casey Fudge assisted Squires' first goal and Sharon Cameron picked up the helper when Squires found the net again in the third.

Tami Watts added an unassisted goal and a helper on Sharon Fisher's late goal that sealed the win.


Island Pub 4, Kensington 1

Matt Boline and Gernot Bucheli each could have single-handedly picked up the win for Island Pub with two unassisted goals apiece.

Boline started and ended the scoring for Island Pub with goals in the first and third periods. Bucheli filled in the rest with scores in the second and third.

Kensington actually outshot Island Pub by a margin of 31-18, but managed to get just one attempt past goalie Chip Verrelli.

Randy Host picked up Kensington's only score midway through the second off an assist from Albert Svensson.

Doc Waters 5, Green 5

Brian Drew's second goal with 2:33 left in the game salvaged a tie for Doc Waters and capped his personal Herculean effort.

Drew finished the game with a pair of goals, adding his first late in the second period, and also chipped in three assists.

Doc Waters actually led 4-3 until Todd Vodnansky tied the score with just eight seconds left in the second. Mike Bovitz then gave Green the lead early in the third. Drew's goal followed more than seven minutes later to knot the final score.

Vodnansky finished with a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Green effort. Bovitz also added three assists to his goal.


Bleu Chunks 3, Yellow 3

Travis Wolfe's hat trick wasn't enough for Yellow Sunday, as Dana Hanselman picked up the tying goal for Bleu Chunks with just 47 seconds left in the game.

Wolfe picked up a pair of his goals in the first period and added a third in the second.

Hanselman's score was the only goal for either team in an evenly played third period.

Pat Metecha and Tim Lazar added the early scores for Bleu Chunks in the first and second stanza, respectively.

Black 4, Capital Embroidery 1

Henry Melville found the net with unassisted goals in the first and second periods to single-handedly outscore Capital Embroidery.

Mike Wright added his own unassisted goal in the first and Mason Morriss added the final score in the third off a helper from Jason Bluhm.

Scott Petsel picked up the only score of the night for Capital Embroidery in the second period. Matt McGuan picked up the assist.


Yellow 3, Glacier Seafoods 2

Liam Carnahan's two goals helped Yellow pick up the narrow win after a back-and-forth battle against Glacier Seafoods.

Carnahan picked up an unassisted score in the first period and added a goal in the second off a helper from Gail Blundell. Cameron Kunz added Yellow's final goal in the third off passes from Blundell and Rob Davidson.

Jason Kohlhase responded to Carnahan's early goal for Glacier, and Thomas Straugh picked up the team's only other score early in the third.
