In Joshua Lovett's letter to the editor on Jan. 15, he argued that the capital should be moved to Anchorage because "The basic fundamental point is that Anchorage is cheaper." He also believes that it should be moved to the largest municipality because of the number of constituents that make up that urban center outnumber other districts.
Sound off on the important issues at
Well in that case, I know of 32 other states that should also move their capitals. Those other state capitals are neither the most reasonably priced nor the most populated urban centers for their state. There are more voters in New York City than in Albany. Portland, Maine, is more affordable than Augusta. You can do some research and easily find the other 30 using Lovett's logic.
Maybe the capital of the United States should also be moved to a more geographically centralized location such as Las Vegas (which would also be Nevada's capital). The fare to get to Vegas is definitely the cheapest for most Americans. And don't worry about any corruption that might go on there, especially if we are going to move Alaska's capital a few blocks away from VECO headquarters.
