Police and fire blotter

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


A woman, 31, was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Sunday on South Franklin Street for assault and taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. The victim was a 27-year-old woman.


A small carved bear, valued at $75, was reported stolen from a yard on Counterpane Road Saturday morning.

A purse was reported stolen Saturday afternoon from the locker room at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool.


A man reported at 4:30 p.m. Saturday that his apartment on Northwood Drive was burglarized.

Vehicle accident:

A man, 79, was cited for negligent driving after a two-vehicle collision about 1 p.m. Sunday near Egan Drive and Glacier Highway. The man's truck turned into a car driven by another man, 48. A 45-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, was treated at Bartlett Regional Hospital and released.


Capital City Fire and Rescue responded at 11:10 a.m. Sunday to a report of smoke from a house on East Street. A heat lamp next to a frozen pipe had touched a wooden beam under the house. There was little damage.

Firefighters responded to an alarm about 1 p.m. Sunday at the state Department of Transportation building on Channel Drive. A sprinkler had gone off in an elevator shaft, but there was no fire.

Firefighters responded at 4:10 p.m. Sunday to a report of smoke in a garage on Duran Street. It was a malfunctioning furnace.
