Juneau-Douglas High School boys basketball: The Sitka Wolves play the Crimson Bears at Juneau-Douglas High School gym, varsity game at 8 p.m. (broadcast on KINY, 800-AM).

Middle school wrestling: Floyd Dryden vs. Dzantik'i Heeni middle schools, varsity 3:30 p.m., JV 5:30 p.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School gym.

Saturday, Jan. 20

Juneau Youth Football League annual meeting: Meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Floyd Dryden Middle School library. All participants, parents and community members are invited. Election of new officers will take place at the meeting. Info: JYFL hotline, 463-3001.

Juneau 4-H cross-country ski program: Meet from 1:30-3 p.m. every Sunday at locations TBA (call the University of Alaska Southeast Cooperative Extension Service for the location of that week's outing). The program is open to skiers in grades K-12, and parents are invited to participate. Membership fee for 4-H program is $6. Avalanche awareness classes: Upcoming avalanche awareness classes from the Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center are Juneau Level II, March 2-5. Mini-workshops for snowmachiners are Haines Snowmachine/Level I, March 16-18, and Petersburg Snowmachine/Level I, Feb. 2-4. Special snowmachiner discount this year. Info: Bill Glude, 586-5606.

Juneau Parks and Recreation summer shelter reservations: Reservations may be made starting on Thursday, Feb. 1, for the summer use of the shelters at Twin Lakes and Cope Park and the use of the shelters and volleyball courts at Sandy Beach/Savikko Park. The shelters and courts can be reserved from April 20 through Sept. 16. Twin Lakes rents for $10 an hour, while Cope Park and the Sandy Beach/Savikko Park shelters rent for $15 an hour. There is no charge to reserve the volleyball courts. Reservations must be made in person at the Juneau Parks and Recreation office in City Hall and payment must be made with the reservation. Open Gyms

Youth open gyms: From 8-11 p.m. on Saturdays (1/20 and 1/27) at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, and from 8-11 p.m. on Fridays (1/19 and 1/26) at Floyd Dryden Middle School. No cost for students grades 5-12. Adult volleyball/basketball open gyms: at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, Cost is $4. From 7-9 p.m. on Sundays (1/21 and 2/4, no open gym will be held on 1/28) and Fridays (1/19 and 1/26, no open gym will be held on 2/2). Open Badminton Gym: From 8-10 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays at Auke Bay School gym. All skill levels encouraged to attend. Info: Theresa Walden, 790-2499.
