JUNEAU - McDowell Group recently hired former State Labor Economist Dan Robinson as senior economist in its Juneau office.
"Dan's extensive knowledge of the Alaska economy and his research and writing skills are an excellent fit for our firm," said McDowell Group Principal Jim Calvin. "Dan has been a longtime contributor to the Department of Labor's Alaska Economic Trends on topics that impact our clients every day."
During his eight years as the statewide economist for the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Robinson managed the programs that produce state and local unemployment rates and monthly job estimates. He has written and presented on almost every sector of the state's economy with a particular focus on jobs, wages, and unemployment.
"It's an exciting opportunity for me to join McDowell Group and continue learning about Alaska's unique economy," Robinson said. "I look forward to working with people I've admired for the professional work they consistently do."
Robinson has a bachelor's degree in economics from Utah State University and a law degree from Cornell Law School. Prior to joining the Department of Labor, he worked as an Assistant Attorney General in Anchorage and Juneau.
