ANCHORAGE - State officials said the Bethel Public Health Center will be closed to the public while a septic tank that collapsed is repaired.
The center is expected to be closed for up to two weeks.
Officials said the problem was discovered by janitors Tuesday evening and resulted in the loss of plumbing service in the building. According to officials, engineers have determined that the center staffers can safely work in the building despite the lack of working restrooms.
Power outages are expected during repairs, so vaccines have been relocated to the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation.
Officials said residents should call the center if they have questions about health care options.
