Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

A business on South Franklin Street summoned police about 7:35 a.m. Tuesday because of a break-in. The responding officer estimated damage of $1,000 to materials at a construction site.

After questioning a man shortly after midnight Tuesday on the Glacier Highway, police saw suspicious activity in the area. Police then searched a nearby wooded area, and arrested a man, 23, for second-degree burglary. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

A report of alleged assault about 8 p.m. Tuesday from a Mendenhall Valley residence brought police to the scene. A man, 43, was arrested on two counts of domestic violence assault and one count of sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. He was transported to state prison.

Vehicle accidents:

Police received multiple reports shortly before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday of a two-vehicle accident on Glacier Avenue in front of Juneau-Douglas High School. Two males, 17, were the drivers. Each vehicle sustained abut $2,000 damage. The operator of the vehicle at fault was cited for failure to yield.

A vehicle fire was reported about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday to Capital City Fire and Rescue from a residence in Switzer Village Mobile Home Park. Firefighters believe the fire began when a car battery, placed on the floor of the vehicle, tipped over and its terminals hit metal, causing an arc. The 1977 Chevy Blazer was totaled.
