Hatred spreads much like the common cold, through direct contact. To the caller who wants to shoot bears: Please know I am working on not passing on your hatred, but using it to notice my own reaction, and to transform pettiness and self-focus to working together to make Juneau a healthier community.

For all those people who speed on Egan who when they spot a cop car, then immediately jam on their breaks and slow down to the speed limit, consider the message you are sending your children, that it's OK to break the rules as long as you don't get caught.

All Americans should start a boycott on all the candidates and legislators by not voting anyone in until they fix the election process and throw out electoral voting.

The legal system in America does work. Thank you to the FBI and to the Alaska State Troopers.

Sen. Edward Kennedy, who left a girl to drown in a car and didn't report it until hours later, should be the last person casting stones at John Ashcroft.

I shudder when people lick their fingers before handing me something. Yuck! Want to catch the latest crud going around town? Keep doing it.

Over a five-month period, May through September, there are 22 cruise ships dumping high fecal sewage chemicals into Alaskan waters. Anyone that doesn't think this has an effect on the quality of Alaskan seafood is wrong.

My old professor has a saying for people like Bush, "He ain't no rocket scientist."

Why on earth do we have to call Prince Rupert, Canada, to get Alaska ferry reservations? We couldn't get through to Alaska Marine Highway reservations locally, due to overloaded phones at the DOT building.

To the caller who suggested that JDHS students lobby the Legislature: That's a great idea and I think it would also be eye-opening for legislators to spend a day, or several days, at JDHS.

I am disgusted that the article about Jesse Jackson was not on the front page of the newspaper. This is very big news. This man has never held down a job, he's never pastored a church. Where did the $340,000 for the house for this woman and the $10,000 he's paying her a month to support his child come from? He works for a nonprofit organization. I bet if this story had been about a Republican it would have made the front page.

We don't need a new high school when we have a declining enrollment of students.

Why were city street crews working in an assembly member's yard recently?

I'm glad to finally see a new furniture store in town.

What will it take to keep people from parking in loading zones, especially the cab's loading zone, and fire lanes? It is a fire hazard.
