Watt lite

Posted: Sunday, January 19, 2003

Destruction of 20 million acres of remaining American wetlands could follow Secretary Norton's new Interior policy-interpretation of a Supreme Court decision. One might expect such a policy from an apprentice of James Watt. Wildlife received a covenant at the same time as Noah in effect. Republican subversion of environmental health in support of global economic profits flourishes in a desert of ideas empty of innovation, invention and advances in the field of new infrastructure, transport, energy and sewage techniques, investments and opportunities.

Building a Lynn Canal highway would devastate the health of America's best fiord, sprawl a strip city a hundred miles to Haines, drop real estate values in Juneau, and end healthy habitat for moose, wolverines, eagles, whales and so forth with no place to go.
