JAHC Wearable Art entries due Feb. 6
JUNEAU - Artist and model applications are due at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, for "Between the Tides," the Sixth Annual Wearable Arts Extravaganza Runway Show and Silent Auction.
The show is 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Centennial Hall. Tickets are already on sale, and only 25 of the 120 premium front-row tickets ($40) remain. General admission tickets are $23.
Application forms are available at the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council, 206 N. Franklin St., and can be downloaded from the JAHC Web site, www.jahc.org.
The show is open to artists of all media and costs $23 per entry. For more information, call the arts council at 586-ARTS.
Salsa Borealis to headline fundraiser
JUNEAU - Salsa Borealis will headline an evening of Peruvian cuisine and salsa dancing from 6-11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the ANB Hall, 320 West Willoughby Ave.
Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., and dinner starts at 7. Admission is $50, and proceeds go to St. Paul's Catholic Church. Those under 21 are welcome with a parent ot guardian.
Admission includes a three-course dinner, and the concert will be be preceded by a salsa lesson and dance performance.

Hoffman, Page return for Bluegrass 101 shows
JUNEAU - Carl Hoffman and Joe Page, two of the original musicians from the Interior-based bluegrass legends Northern River, will return to Juneau this weekend for three shows with Bluegrass 101.
The bands play at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at the Island Pub in Douglas; 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at The Alaskan Hotel & Bar; and 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Island Pub.
Gillens teach 'Shimmy' workshops
JUNEAU - African drum and dance teachers Jim and Lynea Gillen will be in town this weekend to lead the second annual Midwinter Shimmy Workshop, Thursday-Sunday, Jan. 19-22, at Juneau Dance Unlimited.
