Armadillo space may become retail

JUNEAU - The building at 431 S. Franklin St. occupied for 17 years by the Armadillo Tex-Mex Cafe may become "middle- to upper-end retail space," said owner Bill Heumann of Polar Properties.

The building has 1,014 square feet on its street level and 900 square feet upstairs.

"I think it's suitable for some type of retail operation that is tourist-oriented," Heumann said. "The restaurant operation is difficult in that location because there is no winter business."
