The Ketchikan Gateway Borough will readvertise its opening for the top manager position.
The borough manager's job opened up in October, when Borough Assembly members Dick Burton, Dick Coose, George Lybrand and Mike Sallee voted to fire Georgianna Zimmerle.
The borough received 11 applicants for the job. Two withdrew their own names, according to a Jan. 7 memo from Clark Corbridge, the borough personnel officer. Assembly members ranked the candidates in a work session and Corbridge forwarded the six top names to the assembly.
He asked the assembly to select three for further consideration. But at the assembly's regular meeting Jan. 7, Lybrand said he wouldn't vote to hire any of the six candidates, and moved to readvertise the job. He received unanimous support for the motion.
