State board to meet Monday in teleconference

The State Board of Education & Early Development will meet by teleconference at noon on Monday. The meeting will originate from the Commissioner’s Office boardroom at the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, 801 W. 10th St., Suite 200, in Juneau.

The public is invited to attend in the Commissioner’s Office or to connect to the meeting by teleconference. For the teleconference number, please call 465-2802 at least five days before the meeting.

The purpose is to hold a business meeting. Topics include opening a period of public comment on proposed regulations regarding the accounting of school districts’ fund balances, and re-adopting regulations regarding the Alaska Performance Scholarship for greater clarity.

The board will be asked to approve the appointment of the department’s health and safety coordinator, and to endorse the department’s Family Engagement Plan and Early Literacy Plan. The board also will hear reports regarding the upcoming legislative session and the administration’s proposed operating and capital budgets for K-12 education.

The board may amend its published agenda. Agenda times are estimates only and the board may consider agenda items out of order without amending its agenda.
